Just a short note to inform everyone, that my “open for everyone” stamp exchange is now officially back from it’s winter break. Shortly put the exchange rules and guidelines are the pretty much the same as last year.
For the last seven days I’ve been on a business trip to Eastern & Northern parts of the Finland. As I’m writing this, I’m staying the weekend in Oulu, one of the northernmost and largest cities in Finland.
In philatelic terms, year 2010 was good for me. My stamp collection grew with roughly 10,000 stamps, mostly with somewhat modern (1970s or later) items from mainstream countries like Australia, US and Germany. The table below lists 10 countries where I managed to increase my collection most (and which accumulate to nearly one third of total increase):
Just to wish all the blog readers A Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year! Hope You all like this “stampy greeting” displaying one of my all-time favorite Christmas postage stamps.
As those following my stamp exchange more closely may have noticed, I have closed it down for Christmas season today. As I’m writing this, I have received 149 exchange covers from 56 fellow collectors from 31 countries during this year (and likely the numbers will increase by few, as some covers are still on their way)… In total over 15,100 stamps have been sent to me; and of those slightly over 6,600 stamps (or roughly 40%) have been exchanged successfully.
I’m doing some cleaning at my stamp room (again), and would like to try something new to make a better use of some obscure, seriously outdated (especially pricewise) but hopefully still useful specialized stamp catalogs… So here comes an exchange offer that is open to all readers of the blog: I’ll exchange my unwanted specialized stamp catalog to your unwanted specialized stamp catalog…. I know the below listed books are nothing fancy (very likely even not worth the postage fees), but possibly someone out there could use these. As there is only one item of each, please be quick and specific if You like to have any of these.
Time definitely does fly, as it’s been a bit over a month since my last post. Yes, I did have a relaxing summer vacation with plenty of sun and heat.
As I’m writing this, Stamp Collecting Blog is about to break the limit of 1,000 approved user responses / comments. I’d like to thank all the readers of the blog for this great achievement. Without your contributions this blog would be much more boring (and I would have a lot more unanswered questions).
This is possibly one of the topics I wish I would never have to experience or write. But here I am typing this… Today’s mail brought me few exchange letters that were way off from my usual stamp exchange. After some digging I managed to find out that somebody had entered my details as unsolicited listing on stamptraders.org stamp traders list.
Ok, this is not so stamp (or philately) related as my usual posts, but I think it will interest a lot of collectors. eBay has today received (U.S) official patents approval for online auctions. I know, it sounds totally absurd, but it’s 100% true.
