Being a bit lazy person, I’m republishing this older post with a bit updated data… Just to notice everyone, that this will be my first and only major post on the blog this month. Summer has finally reached central-Finland, and like most folks I’ll be taking a break from the online world to enjoy the sun and good weathers.

As my work includes a lot of traveling, I have developed a tendency not to travel anywhere while on holidays. Instead, I’ll be mostly doing classic summer chores on our backyard. And if it rains, then I’ll dig into stamps.

Our garden has grown each year, and this summer we’ll be growing ‘the regular’ potatoes, carrots, onions, radish, peas and strawberries too. We’re also trying something new each year, and this year it’s lovage. And naturally well be doing a lot of weeding too, LOL.

As we live surrounded by several clean water lakes, going to fishing or swimming (with/without kids) is not difficult either:

The lake is only few minutes walk away from our house. Perfect for random fishing.

The only troublesome part are mosquitoes and other biting insects which are extremely plenty and bloodthirsty this year. Fortunately not everything is that stingy. Last week my misses noted this amazing butterfly sleeping on a grass. After a bit of Googling, we found out it’s Elephant Hawk-moth. It should be a common one here, but as it flies only by night, very few people stumble with it:

But more than anything, I’ll be looking forward to sitting back and enjoying the (hopefully) good weather in upcoming weeks…

Finland, 2007. Moomin summer. Pair of canceled stamps + side label still attached on booklet back cover. Many Finnish stamp dealers use either complete or partial booklet panes for parcel postage. As stamps are self-adhesives attached on the booklet covers, they are usually mailed "as is" to keep the entity as whole.

Happy summer everyone!

Keijo thank you again for this site. I lurk at least twice a week. And I agree, hard to stare at a computer screen with the sun out!!!

@Joseph… Actually I’m even more “old school” and prefer the traditional hook and bait
