Working with “making stampcollectingblog.com a better place” project, here’s a question that will possibly raise some mixed opinions and discussion. Do you prefer reading short, medium length or long writings?

Here’s a sample of short post, medium lenght post, and a long one.

Personally I have tried to kept my writings mainly in medium lenght range as I know many people dislike reading very long articles on the screen. Short articles on the other hand are something I try to avoid, as they end up being very shallow.

But once again, the stage is yours. Here’s your change to make this blog a better place ;)

    I’ve been enjoying your blog ever since I heard about it on the Stamp Collecting Round-Up blog on July 25. As long as your passion, joy and and love of the hobby keep shining, I’ll keep reading. As you share your hunting process and what you discover, observe and learn, I learn and keep interested in the hobby, too. In other words, the length of your articles is not as important to me as what you have to say. Keep it fun for yourself and don’t box yourself in. You don’t want your blog to become drudgery.

    Very interesting. Mind if I link to you on my site, for appropriate topics?

    @Carol: I like your thinking :)

    @Alex: That’s OK for me :)

    I like Medium articles,as short ones don’t give enough info. and the long ones, well I usually stop reading before the end as I’m always anxious to see whats next..

    I like the medium articles, too, for the same reasons Jayne Grenon said. But of cause it also depends of the subject of the article. If there isn’t much to say there is no need to write a long article, but if it’s a complex theme you might need need to write a longer article to explain it.

    I agree with Carol: If you enjoy writing them, I will enjoy reading, no matter the lenght. If an article gets too long, a couple of pictures and photos in the middle will ease the reading.

    One thing that would be great would be posting the full articles on the blog main page and in the RSS feed. That would simplify the reading a lot.

    Best,
    Pablo.

    Hi Pablo,
    full articles on the home page and feeds is a very mixed issue. It does have few benefits, but also some negative issues (which is the reason for current practise). For example pushing full articles on the main page would make it very slow to load for most users (as I use plenty of large sized images per entry). So for the time being there will be no changes in this part…sorry.
