In 1965 Hungarian Post issued a set of stamps depicting birds of prey to commemorate 65th anniversary of Agricultural Museum. The 60 filler stamp features Western Marsh Harrier in its natural habitat, and the below illustration displays two copies of this stamp. Like most of my stamp stories there's a twist: the left side copy features an unlisted variety. ...(257 words,2 images, 2 comments)
One of my all time favorite stamp series is the iconic 1958 Hungarian postage dues . Hungarians call very descriptively as 'Vörös Fekete Porto' - meaning 'red and black postage dues'. The design and implementation of these stamps have got all the aspects of a classic: a simple yet elegant bi-colored design repeated with 16 different face values in two different perforations. It's possible that one of the colors has been omitted during print, or this is some sort of chemical changeling. ...(193 words,2 images, 4 comments)
It's been a while since I showcased some of the interesting EFO's (Errors, Freaks, Oddities) from my collection. Recently I came across with this easy to notice plate flaw with Hungarian stamp commemorating the Aviators Day postage stamp. ...(90 words,2 images, 0 comments)
