Finnish parliamentary elections today – a ballot cancellation
As Finland is having 2011 Parliamentary elections today, here’s a bit of related cinderella: a ballot cancellation. Though this is likely the most used “official document” cancellations in Finland, it is also one of the rarest ones too, as the election ballots, covers etc. sealed with this are destroyed afterwards.

Finnish ballot cancellation / seal. The cancellation says ballot cancel both in Finnish (Vaalileima) and Swedish(Valstämpel).
The only surviving copies I’ve seen are on “practice samples” placed on non-official papers. For example my copy is on a piece of regular grid paper.

Political campaign memorabilia is a fun genre to collect and can enrich a stamp stamp exhibit. Ditto to exercise your right to vote. Always!
Of course we have the right to vote…that is our weapon against politicians!…do it every time you can!!! good luck for the finnish!…and don’t forget L O L !
@Fred… Let’s just say that the result of elections was more than *interesting* (even BBC News seems to feature it on their Europe section front page)… But people has voted for a change, and with that we Finns have to live for 4 next years. Who knows, maybe the fact that a lot of “traditional” politicians got booted will truly change things for better.
January 2012 there is presidential election in Finland. Then I have such kind of cancel in my hand. Well….
