US Gulf Coast lighthouses on postage stamps
And while on the subject of US stamps, here are some superb lighthouse stamps on cover.
US 2009 Lighthouse postage stamps on cover
The set of five different 44-cent (first class) commemorative stamps was issued on July 23rd 2009 in sheets of 20. The lighthouses depicted are Sand Island (AL), Biloxi (MS), Sabine Pass (LA), Matagorda Island (TX), and Fort Jefferson (FL – not on the picture). A common nominator is that all these lighthouses are located at the Gulf coast and they have withstood the rage of hurricanes.
