Here’s a rundown of recent cards and covers received from US. My compliments to Jeff and Larry ( both stamp exchange partners of mine) for sending these.

Meet the Simpsons family

US 2009 - Simpson family stamps

I can only say … WOW! I remember that as a kid I used to watch the Simpsons every saturday. And now my kids (or the oldest of them) are also doing the same “activity”.  Especially I love the “attitude” that Maggie stamp has captured.

Old and new

Nicely cancelled US stamps

Nicely cancelled US stamps

US is one of the few nations, where even very old stamps are still postally valid and commonly used. This cover is a nice reminder of that, as there are stamps from the last 4 decades… And the cancels are absolutely corgeous (at least in US standards).

In the heat of the night…

The legendary "killer" wavy line

And finally a reminder of a world we are living in… You can’t get a SOTN cancel every time. Nice stamps though – especially the 94c definitive showing a view from US Virgin Island is breathtaking.

The Virgin Island stamp is known to be non- soakable.  But Does anyone know if the Simpsons family stamps are soakable?

I just love those Simpsons stamps, they are really cool… :) I can’t tell you how many times I watched the Simpsons when I was younger, but I can tell you that I watched a lot! :)

Yes, The Simpsons stamps are soakable. I have personally done it successfully. Soak for several minutes in warm water, then peel the envelope away. You may also have to hold the stamp under a gentle stream of warm running water to gently rub/pull the adhesive off the back of the stamp.

    Hi Carol,

    and thanks…

BTW. Does anyone know a good online listing of non-soakable US (and possibly even worldwide) stamps? I know Linns publishes a (bi-annual?) listing of soakable/non-soakable US issues, but I hate digging up the specific issue of Linns every time I need to check some specific stamp… I’m also well aware of VSC’s (Virtual Stamp Club) “soakability index”, but IMO it’s lagging severerly behind.

I just wish “soakabilty” would end up in stamp catalogues.
