Though errors on stamps are usually rare and expensive, there are luckily few exceptions. The United States “Dag Hammarskjold invert” error of 1962 was the first invert error to occur on any United States stamp since 1918 Inverted Jenny. And AFAIK, it is the second deliberately mass-produced error stamp worldwide (the first one I believe is DDR 5-year plan 20/24pfg definitive stamp).
Moving on with my incoming mail showcase… Here are covers and postcards I’ve received lately from US.
Last week I received this cover along with my order from US stamp dealer. It’s nice that he used real stamps for the postage, but sadly the postmaster had an artistic moment with blue ink pen.
This fabulous cover has been sitting on my table for few weeks. It features my very first postally used complete US miniature sheet (as well as few more stamps from the TV memories stamp series).
As some know, I’m somewhat enthusiast stamp exchanger. Without a doubt I’m having at least one active trade going on constantly; most of the time I’m involved in at least 2-3 trades. Yes, it takes both time and resources, but in return my collection grows at the rate 2-3,000 new items per year due to this contribution; and in exchange I naturally give away the same amount of unnecessary duplicates…This time I’ve decided to show some of the stamps I receive from other traders.
I haven’t showed my incoming mail for a while besides some random items. Rest of this week I’ll be sharing these fabulous (mainly 2009) postage stamps with you.
