I had lots of interesting moments while reading the Into the Future – The American Philatelic society 2030 report. No, I’m not a member of APS (or any other philatelic organization any more), but I find reports as such very useful way to track down where organized philately is heading to. And especially as I expect to retire somewhere around 2040, I have very high hopes that the world would still have plenty of fellow stamp collectors in distant future.
Yesterday (and as well as today) I got involved into a somewhat “interesting” discussion on MyPhilately that gathered tens of comments in matter of hours. Unfortunately, it turned also into a catfight between stamp collectors and philatelists in few responses. I can hear you saying “again…sigh”. My thoughts precisely. Why on earth can’t stamp collectors and philatelists co-exist in peace (especially on Valentine’s time)?
I’m a Christmas person. Without a doubt it’s the only celebration that I expect seriously year after year. For me Christmas has never been about religion, it’s a celebration of family filled with traditions, good food and being together.
One of the “popular topics” on my inbox (email, facebook etc.) involves trading/exchanging recent Finnish mint stamps to recent non-European (usually Indian, Malaysian or Vietnamese) issues. I can say that not a week goes by without at least couple such request landing on my inbox.
