I’m doing some cleaning at my stamp room (again), and would like to try something new to make a better use of some obscure, seriously outdated (especially pricewise) but hopefully still useful specialized stamp catalogs… So here comes an exchange offer that is open to all readers of the blog: I’ll exchange my unwanted specialized stamp catalog to your unwanted specialized stamp catalog…. I know the below listed books are nothing fancy (very likely even not worth the postage fees), but possibly someone out there could use these. As there is only one item of each, please be quick and specific if You like to have any of these.

Available items

Overall in very good condition. Bought as used copy from public library, so contains few “removed” cancels.

And finally few simple rules…

The following rules will hopefully make this exchange easy and safe for all…

1. If You want something, you have to make a specific and detailed offer using this page
Use the comment box (located on bottom of this page) to make an exchange offer. Type in Your name, Your email address, what item would You want, and what do You offer in return. If You can upload a photo of Your offer somewhere on the net (like PhotoBucket, Google Picasa, Facebook, Flickr etc), please do so and remember to include the photo URL to your message.

I will contact you as soon as possible, but as I do have life outside stamps too You may have to wait few days. If you have not heard of me in couple of days, please check your email’s junk / trash folder (look out for message topic that begins with “stampcollectingblog.com special exchange offer”)… Any responses will be dealt in order of arrival.

2. Do not sent anything before I have confirmed that we have a deal.
When we have reached an agreement to exchange items, I will mark the item as “gone” on this webpage. After that I will send you my mailing address.

If I don’t know you before (from stamp exchange or otherwise), please be prepared to send the goods first. Otherwise we sent the goods on same day.

3. About postage fees

I pay the postage fees to send goods to You, You pay the postage fees to send goods to me. Simple and sweet.

Personally I will send everything using unregistered airmail, and expect you to do the same. Dispatched goods should be packed with extreme care (as international postage can contain some very heavy handling).

And above all, do use nice stamps for postage. And with nice I do mean stuff like complete miniature sheets, or complete booklet panes; and get them cancelled properly at your post office. This is what I will do, and hope You to do the same… The philosophy behind this is very simple… If postage of goods is 5-30 €/$ (much more than the value of goods), then I’d wish to see that money spent well.

But that’s all for now… if this takes off, I might add some other specific exchange offers at later point.

wow.. nice catalogs even though they are old.. any chance of having specialized thematic catalogs on birds that you want to let go? LOL… currently using SG birds but it only have common issues and not into specialized area such as varieties etc.. any advice on which catalog i should be looking for?

    regards,
    ronny

    No such luck, Ronny.

Besides SG Birds catalog, I do know of two such thematic catalogs:

    1) Domfil has a printed catalog relating to bird stamps. Don’t know much about it (I’ve seen an arcade edition once way back), but here’s a useful looking review from someone who uses it a lot: http://www.bird-stamps.org/domfil/index.htm . Based on sample scan, it looks (still) pretty simplified.

    2) Michel has a printed catalog about European bird stamps. It’s called “Michel Motiv-Katalog Vögel Europe” (in German). I’ve never seen it, but according to Michel’s brochures, it’s about 400+ information packed pages… Alternatively you might want to check out either Michel’s online catalog or MichelSoft 9 – both allow search based on keywords. A simple keyword search Vögeln (birds) in online catalog brought up 3500+ stamp sets with full details, but very likely much more items would turn up, if I dug in deeper with more specific keywords (latin names, hunting, crests etc. that might contain bird related motives).

    Dear Keijo,

Thanks for the advice. Will checkout your suggestions. I’m really amazed with your dedication towards philately. Hope to reach your level one day

@Ronny… It was just good luck. Earlier this year I was seeking answer to same question (for my own purposes). Didn’t never find the final answer to my original question (about print / usage numbers of specific bird stamp on cover), but the process learned me a lot about the state of bird/topical stamp catalogs… And now I’m just sharing that piece of knowledge forward…

I need a catalog of the first issues of stamps (Scott # 1 through to #344) for Spain that has more pictures of those stamps than does the Scott catalog. There are so many different frames and versions of King Alfonso XII & Queen Isabella that I can’t tell which stamps I have. Anyway, all I have to exchange for such a Catalog is cash. If you have such a catalog, or can tell me the name of one which I could look for on the Internet, I’d really appreciate it.
    Sincerely, Harry Schroeter

    Hi Harry,

Sadly I don’t have an spare to match Your need, but I do know precisely what You need (as I have added a copy recently to my personal library)…. It’s called Edifil; their website can be found at http://www.edifil.es. They have couple of alternatives to choose from, and they cover pretty much everything about Spanish philately. And naturally the catalogs are in Spanish.

Alternatively you might want to check out Michel’s Europe catalogs (part 1 or 2 depending on issue year), or Stanley Gibbons one country catalog for Spain & areas. These both should contain a bit more than Scott (but lot less than Edifil).

Wondering if either the ‘84 or ‘91 NORMA is still available?

  8. Keijo wrote :

@Dennis… I had to check up on this first, but yes. I have both of them are available… I ‘m sending you email, so please check your inbox.
