Singapore MyStamp promotional card
Lately I received two National Day Celebrations 2009 cards from Singapore.
The first card had a 2nd class stamp from the Local Desserts series issued in July 2009 as well as 4×5c definitive stamps issued in 2001. The Ondeh-ondeh descriped on 2nd class stamp is balls of sweet potato dough wrapped around by a thin layer of grated coconut, often served with a coconut filling.

The other card is something I’m not sure what it is. It looks like a stationary card as it has inscription “Overseas postage paid by Singapore Post”. But the printed value label of Orchid P-stamp (personalized stamp) says “Promotional design only”. So there is a conflict – should the card have been affixed a stamp or not?

My compliments to fellow blogger Tan Wei Jie for sending these cards.

I think the left part with the orchid is a official “stamp”, while te right part is just a “promotional design” without postage value.
It is possible to get some of these ‘overseas postage paid’ postcards from the post office but I have not seen this design yet. Normally such ‘overseas postage paid’ cards only have bar codes or something similar printed as its postage paid indicia. I think that the ’stamp’ design on this card is just to make this card looks nicer. Incidentally it does cost 50 cents to mail a postcard to a foreign address from Singapore.
Hi Richard,
and thanks for the information. It was very usefull.
This was issued by SingPost through Zocard (a private post card printing company)to commemorate the 2009 National Day. There were 2 card designs at the front, and the same design at the back (where you see the stamps). The 50c stamp is a “true” postage stamp as it was meant to be pre-paid by SingPost for anyone who wants to post a postcard overseas. The most accurate description (not 100% exact though) would be that it is a pre-paid impression. The right tab with the children is just part of the design advertising “MyStamp” which is part of SingPost’s marketing effort for customisable stamps.
I enjoy your site very much and I thank you for writing up such a nice collection of articles.
