Here’s a cover I received lately from Australia with a stamp from the 2008 Waterfalls of Australia series.

Jim Jim Falls is in the heart of the Australia’s Northern Territory’s Kakadu National Park. On the wet season, the waters tumble over the wall of the Arnhem Land escarpment to create the majestic 200-metre waterfall; but during the dry season the water dries up and the falls often don’t fall.

The complete Waterfalls of Australia set features 4 stamps each showing a different waterfall: 1) Russell Falls, Tasmania ($1.40) 2)Jim Jim Falls, Northern Territory($2.05) 3) Spa Pool, Hamersley Gorge, Western Australia ($2.80) and 4) MacKenzie Falls, Victoria ($4.10).

In European perspective, this series is interesting because all the stamps are aimed for international postage only.

Another interesting notice is that Wikipedia article about Jim Jim Falls has a photo, that looks pretty same as the one used on the stamp design. Is it the same image?

Is this the same image as in Wikipedia article?

I don’t think it is the same image. Look on the top of the fall, You will see much more water in the wikipedia image.

    Hi fireforcer,

    here’s a simple 5-step programme:

step 1) Take images of the stamps using either a digital camera, scanner or some other digital imaging device

step 2) Edit the images (if necessary) using a photo editing programme.

step 3) Register with some website that allows You to share images. Some very popular (and free) websites providing this functionality are FaceBook and PhotoBucket; but there are hundreds (if not thousands of alternative service providers)

step 4) Upload the photos to the website … each service usually has detailed instructions on how to achieve this step.

step 5)That’s it… Now your images are online, and you can share the (URL) address to people you’d like.

    Hope these instructions will help.

    best,
    -keijo-

I live in Darwin, Northern Territory, and have seen this falls in the ‘flesh’ so to speak.

During a recent consultation that Aussie Post Held, I asked if they could release a set of Northern Territory Parks – waterfalls as we have so many.

Someone commented recently in stampboards that is was so easy for Australia to produce gorgeous stamps – because all we need to do is take a picture of our wildlife, beaches or waterfalls.. lol
