The 1987 Christmas postage stamps are IMHO one of the most boring Finnish stamps in design. The stamps introduce Santa’s family.

The discountend rate Christmas stamp features Santa with some young christmas elve’s:

1987 Finland - Christmas postage stamp.

1987 Finland - Christmas postage stamp.

The regular rate stamp features Mrs. Santa Claus, or “Joulupukin muori” (literally “the old lady of Joulupukki) as we Finns call him.

1987 Finland - Christmas postage stamp.

1987 Finland - Christmas postage stamp. The stamp is cancelled in Pohjoinen, which literally means "North".

    Hello Keijo…
Just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying your parade of Finnish Christmas stamps. Your commentary is always so insightful concerning the culture and traditions of Finland. I also wanted to add that I received your cover today. It’s always a thrill for me, as a new collector, to find a little something waiting for me in the mail. Thanks for the response and I hope you liked the souvenir sheet I sent you. Take care and Happy Holidays!

    Hi Chris,

I’m happy you are enjoying the series… I had lots of fun while preparing the articles as most of the items brings back good memories from the past years.

The souvenir sheet was nice, and I will definitely showcase it some time next year.

    Happy holidays!
