A story of a dinosaur stamp
Here’s an interesting dinosaur stamp from Canada. It’s a 43c Massospondylus from the 1993 series of prehistoric animals. Whilst looking at the postmark on the item, I though I had found yet another freak to my “stranger in strange land” collection of stamps canceled in wrong countries. But I was way off.

1993 Canada - 43c postage stamp with dinosaur and very attractive postmark.
After some checking it turned up that Drumheller is in Alberta, Canada (and not in Germany as I would have guessed). And more than that it’s also known as the dinosaur capital of the world. So instead of a freak, I now own a very nicely canceled topical item.
It’s the small pieces of information and surprises that make stamp collecting so much fun.
PS. And if somebody’s thinking about the dinosaur… It was “only” the size of two humans; and very likely a herbivore.

Hei Keijo,
Being from Canada, and living in Alberta, about five hours northwest of Drumheller, I had to smile when I read the above article. And indeed, Drumheller is an amazing place that has provided many, many museums with fossils. Nice cancel on the stamp!
Nice and funny story ! Will be glad to publish your story on my website.
